New Albany tables public hearing on three Jersey Township JEDs until June 17

Counsel explained JED taxes would apply only to new development following voluntary property‑owner consent, that New Albany would collect receipts and manage bookkeeping, and that the township administrator is finalizing the parcel exhibits.
Given ongoing coordination with the township and the township’s continued public hearing, council voted to table the city’s public hearing and continue discussion at the June 17 meeting to allow confirmation of the property lists and any minor edits to the agreement text. No public speakers addressed the hearing at the May 20 session.
Next steps: council set a continued public hearing for June 17; staff will provide finalized parcel exhibits and any proposed edits to the ordinance language ahead of that meeting.
