Council adopted Resolution R17‑20‑25 May 6 to amend the annexation agreement exhibits with Plain Township and the City of Columbus so the annexation document matches recently amended water and sewer service‑area maps.
A city attorney explained the changes are largely housekeeping: certain parcels and triangular parcels previously shown in Columbus's growth area were reclassified on the exhibit to permit New Albany to serve and, where appropriate, annex them. The staff presentation noted a 73‑acre property east of Bevelheimer Road that the city purchased and that can now be annexed under the updated exhibits. The updated exhibit also clarifies a small unincorporated area west of State Route 62 that New Albany could annex in the future if the landowner desires.
Council opened a public hearing, heard no speakers and adopted the resolution by a 5–0 vote. Staff said the exhibits align the annexation agreement with the amended water and sewer contracts previously approved by council and Columbus.
