Council adopts four ordinances updating traffic, offenses, zoning and TMD rules

New Albany City Council unanimously adopted four ordinances May 6 that update city traffic and general‑offenses code, amend the Technology Manufacturing District rules and rezone about 15.5 acres for limited general employment uses.

Clerk Mason explained that two ordinances (O15‑20‑25 and O16‑20‑25) update the city's codified ordinances to reflect recent amendments in the Ohio Revised Code, making local traffic and general‑offenses language consistent with state law and aiding police operations and citation consistency. The council held public hearings on each measure and recorded no public comments.

Council also approved O17‑20‑25, which clarifies residential setback requirements and development standards for advanced fabric structures within the TMD (Technology Manufacturing District), and O18‑20‑25, a zoning map amendment that rezones roughly 15.504 acres south of Jug Street and west of Clover Valley Road from Infill Planned Unit Development (IPUD) to Limited General Employment (LGE) to allow general employment uses requested by the applicant. A planning staff member summarized that the rezoning aligns with the city's strategic plan and that the planning commission had previously recommended approval.

Each ordinance was moved, seconded and adopted by a recorded 5–0 vote. No substantive amendments were offered at the meeting and no members of the public spoke during the hearings.

The council scheduled the first reading and public hearing for the final plat and right‑of‑way acceptance for Gann Parkway West Phase 3B (O19‑20‑25) for the May 20 meeting; that item remains at first reading.
