The Hobart City Redevelopment Commission approved several construction and finance items at its March 16 meeting, including Change Order #9 for the Colorado TRAX project, a $253,350 payment for roundabout improvements and the register of claims totaling $280,489.46.
City Engineer Alex Metz reported Change Order #9 is for $6,688.20 and said the Colorado TRAX project was roughly $64,000 under budget; Metz told the commission the RDC would not be responsible for any cost overages. Commissioners voted 4-0 to approve the change order.
On the roundabout project, Metz said the contractor completed most work with only minor repairs remaining, including placement of boulders; the total contract is $327,500 and Payment Application No. 1 requests $253,350. Director of Development Marcos Rodriquez confirmed the payment amount and the commission approved the payment 4-0.
The commission reviewed the register of claims totaling $280,489.46 for engineering, legal services, site photos and updated TIF legal descriptions. Commissioner Mark Kara moved to approve the Register of Claims and President Matthew Claussen seconded; the motion carried 4-0. Commissioners also approved two small 2020 bond requisitions: Requisition 76 for $535.66 and Requisition 77 for $178.04.
Commissioners discussed landscaping choices at the roundabout, with staff citing salt tolerance, weather resilience and maintenance needs as reasons for the selected materials. The meeting record shows these items were routine approvals; staff noted work on projects continues and will be monitored through standard contract oversight.
