Director outlines expanded youth programming, hires events coordinator

I just hired her for full time events." The director described a planned expansion of after-school offerings in partnership with the CAPS program and the mayor's youth council to include homework help, music (guitars and keyboards), arts and board games, aiming to begin in March with MondayThursday sessions from about 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Staffing plans include at least two staff on site and support/mentorship roles from police and fire.
The director said the authority would tailor programs to attract middle- and high-school students who had previously not participated and would welcome younger participants as well. Vendor outreach will continue and the events coordinator will convene vendor meetings to refine programming and logistics. The director emphasized that the festival park timeline is being coordinated so markets can run through August before any park construction begins.
