North Huntingdon commissioners deadlock on rules for fire-service feasibility committee

The Board of Commissioners on June 17 debated procedural rules for a fire-service feasibility study committee and failed twice to adopt Resolution 113 after tied roll-call votes.
Commissioner Gray moved to table Resolution 113, arguing the underlying formation Resolution 106 and the proposed rules were defective and “discriminatory in nature,” and urging that the rules include roll-call votes and allow fire chiefs to designate alternates who could vote when chiefs cannot attend. "I believe the resolution 106 of 2026 is discriminatory in nature," Gray said during the discussion.
After a roll-call vote the motion to table was tied 3-3 and failed. A motion to adopt Resolution 113 was then called and likewise failed on a 3-3 roll-call vote. Commissioners said the board should revisit the formation resolution and procedural rules at the next work session and seek comment from affected fire departments.
Manager Faulk confirmed the rules were drafted using board and fire-chief comments, and the president and other members said they would bring the matter back for further consideration. No changes to the committee’s work or membership were adopted at the meeting.
