The Mullins City Council Finance Committee reviewed April financial statements at a May 18 meeting and identified discrepancies and ledger entries that members said need correction before the May financials are released. Committee Chair Luke Gasque called the meeting to order at 10 a.m. in the Raymond Pridgen Auditorium.
Committee members examined department overtime ledgers as part of the financial review. The Public Works overtime account (015201-1) shows $13,749.66 used of a $15,000 allotment with three pay periods remaining, while the Police overtime account (015301-1) shows $20,458.83 used against a $20,000 budget (an apparent $458.83 overrun). The Fire overtime ledger (015401-1) displays $42,244.67 used against a $20,000 budget according to the submitted ledger; the committee flagged that entry and the ledgers inconsistent formatting for further explanation.
City Administrator Holly Jackson told the committee she will contact the citys accounting firm, Greene Finney, "to have those items explained and/or changed before the May financials are available." The committee asked staff to reconcile line-item entries and return corrected figures at or before the next budget workshop.
No formal votes were recorded on budget adjustments during the session. The published minutes record a motion to adjourn made by Council Member Terry Davis and seconded by Mayor Miko Pickett.
The committees review of overtime and ledger entries comes as the city prepares a FY27 draft budget and schedules public workshops to reconcile department requests with projected revenues.
