Morton County Commission approves agenda, payroll and three abatement motions in brief June 4 meeting

Chair Nathan Boehm called the Morton County Commission regular meeting to order at 5:32 p.m. on June 4, 2026 at the Morton County Courthouse in Mandan. Commissioners Zachmeier, Buckley, Tokach and Morrell, Auditor Dawn R. Rhone, States Attorney Koppy and Sheriff Kirchmeier were present.
The commission approved the agenda, with additions, following a motion by Commissioner Buckley and a second from Commissioner Morrell; the motion carried with all voting aye. Commissioners then approved the minutes of the May 26, 2026 regular meeting on a motion from Commissioner Tokach and a second from Commissioner Buckley.
The board approved bills and payroll (motion by Commissioner Buckley; second by Commissioner Tokach), and approved three separate abatement items: abatement #7228 (moved by Commissioner Morrell; seconded by Commissioner Tokach), abatements #7229–7230 (moved by Commissioner Tokach; seconded by Commissioner Buckley), and abatements #7231–7232 (moved by Commissioner Morrell; seconded by Commissioner Buckley). Each motion carried with all voting aye.
The public comment period required by North Dakota Century Code §44-04-20.1 was opened at 5:50 p.m. and closed at 5:51 p.m.; no members of the public offered comments.
Auditor Dawn R. Rhone reported county fund expenditures totaling $2,217,442.52 for the period May 27 through June 4, 2026 and stated that a detailed list of checks is available for public inspection at the Morton County Auditor’s Office during regular business hours.
Chair Boehm adjourned the meeting at 5:51 p.m.
