Police chief reports code-enforcement complaints; reserve officer sworn in

Middletown’s police chief reported several ongoing code-enforcement issues to the council and administered a ceremonial swearing-in during the Aug. 19 meeting.
Chief Landon Dean told the council that staff have sent letters to homeowners whose yards were reported as being out of control and that there have been complaints about campers and boats parked improperly. Dean said one couple living in a camper is moving back into a home currently being renovated. He also noted a dog that lives outside town and repeatedly gets loose will be the subject of a trial next month.
Earlier in the meeting, Chief Dean swore in Bobby Peck as a Middletown Reserve Officer, a ceremonial personnel action the council recorded. The council did not take additional enforcement votes during the meeting but discussed ongoing follow-up and letters issued by the police department.
