Middletown EMS to receive township ambulance; council to review title and facility needs

Phil Chandler, representing Middletown EMS, told the council that the township will provide a new ambulance but would hold title; Middletown EMS would be responsible for readiness, maintenance and insurance costs.
Mr. Chandler said EMS would also like to convert part of the current training room into a second room so EMS staff who live outside town have a place to stay while on duty. He noted the current room lacks fire alarms; the council recorded a plan to install a smoke alarm in the space.
Council staff member Joel Harvey was asked to review the proposed title arrangement and report back to the council. The minutes do not record a formal vote on the ambulance or the room-conversion request; the item was entered as a request for staff review and follow up.
The council took no final action during the Aug. 5 meeting; Joel Harvey is to examine the title proposal and provide further information to the council for a future decision.
