Middletown council approves livestream license, radar units, billing contract and appoints utility clerk

Committee member Dan Fountain moved and Committee member Gary Kendall seconded several administrative measures that the Middletown Town Council approved unanimously on Aug. 5, 2025.

Staff member Ron Koons told the council the town’s livestreaming equipment is in but needs a TV reposition and software fixes; he asked the council to approve purchasing a commercial Zoom license with a one‑time town payment of about $1,500 to cover the annual subscription. The council voted 5‑0 to authorize the purchase.

The council also approved two radar units for the police department at $1,000 each after a request from Chief Dean; the motion by Committee member Dan Fountain, seconded by Committee member Jake Smith, passed 5‑0. The council awarded the monthly utility billing printing and mailing contract to Boyce Mail and approved FEMA funding as presented; both motions were recorded as passing 5‑0.

Committee member Dave Wagner announced an appointment: Donita Chambless will fill the open utility office position left by Krista Demick. The council confirmed the appointment by voice vote after a motion from Committee member Dan Fountain and a second from Committee member Jake Smith; the minutes record the motion passing 5‑0.

The council also approved splitting a corner‑lot sidewalk project at 189 N 5th St. into two separate projects, again on a 5‑0 vote, and scheduled follow‑up on several administrative items raised during the meeting.

The council is scheduled to meet next on Aug. 19, 2025, when Committee member Jake Smith will chair the session.
