The Middletown Town Council on Aug. 19 reviewed two competing estimates to repair an unspecified foundation, weighing whether to pay for the work from sidewalk funds.
Council member Carl Spears told the meeting that Indiana Foundation had provided a bid of $64,941 and Basement Systems of Indiana submitted a separate bid for $135,933.60. Joel Harvey has not yet reviewed the estimates; council members agreed to table the item until staff completes that review and until Indiana Foundation is invited to a future meeting, Spears said.
Council members discussed using money earmarked for sidewalks to pay for the repairs, but they made no formal allocation or vote at the meeting. The council instructed Joel Harvey to review the quotes and report back; Spears said he will contact Indiana Foundation to ask whether a representative can attend a meeting to discuss its proposal.
The foundation-repair item remains tabled pending the requested review and a future council discussion.
