The Woodbury County Board of Supervisors on Monday awarded the contract for bridge project LB7397 (bridge K23 on 180th Street between Lucas and Lennox Avenue) to Dixon Construction of Correctionville, Iowa, for $974,948.95.
County staff reported receiving six bids. Reported offers included Dixon Construction at $974,948.95 (the low bid), Menturn Ink at $991,953.15, Kramer & Associates at about $1.16 million, Graves Construction at about $1.18 million, Christensen Brothers at about $1.09 million, and Gabersonson Smith Construction Company at about $1.24 million. Staff said Dixon's paperwork and bid bond were in order. The board moved to receive the bids and to award the contract to Dixon; the motion passed unanimously, 5-0. Staff noted the low Dixon bid was roughly 15% lower than the county's estimate.
The county engineer will complete the standard contract award paperwork and return to the board as required.
