Commissioner Jesse S. Brown moved to approve the stipend and Mayor Pro Tem Jule Bady Jr. seconded; the minutes record unanimous approval. Earlier the Commission voted to enter and later to exit an executive session for personnel.
Mayor Matt W. Donaldson reported the city's fund balance was $1,945,260.33 as of the end of October 2024. He also reviewed the 2025 budget process, announcing a public budget hearing on Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 6:00 P.M. and a special meeting to approve the budget on Thursday, Dec. 19 at 5:00 P.M.
Other business recorded in the minutes included a report that Public Works has been busy cleaning up after Hurricane Helene and a note that the Fire Department will pick up a new fire truck later in November. Mayor Donaldson also asked commissioners to suggest replacements for a vacancy on the Planning Commission after the death of Planning Commissioner Dewayne Rollins.
The minutes list routine approvals earlier in the meeting as well (agenda and minutes from prior meetings).
