On June 16, 2026, the East Bradford Township Historical Commission unanimously recommended retroactive approval of a permit for a metal roof installed at 702 Lenape Road, a Class 1 historic property (HR#119).
Property owner Neil Abrahams told the commission he replaced a cedar shake roof with metal without first obtaining Historical Commission review or a building permit, calling the omission an oversight and apologizing for failing to secure approvals. Abrahams said a metal roof had been on the house prior to the cedar addition in 1996.
Commissioner Matthew Roberson told the panel the roof as installed, including its color, is appropriate for the house. Roberson moved to recommend approval of the permit retroactively; Vice Chair Steve Novak seconded the motion. All members present voted in favor.
The commission's recommendation means the Historical Commission will support issuing or regularizing the required permit through township staff and building-code processes. No additional enforcement action or penalties were recorded in the minutes. The commission did not record any conditions attached to its recommendation.
The commission did not schedule further review of the property at the meeting. The Historical Commission’s next regular meeting is July 21, 2026.
