Colleton County awards contract to rock dozens of dirt roads; council reschedules January meeting and makes appointments

Colleton County Council on Dec. 6 awarded a contract to rock numerous county dirt roads, approved a change to the January meeting date and filled a board vacancy.
By unanimous vote, the council approved Resolution 22-R-58 to award the contract for rocking county dirt roads to Edisto Contracting, LLC. Chairman Steven Murdaugh read the full list of roads to be rocked in the meeting record, and Councilman Art Williams thanked county CTC staff for addressing this frequent resident complaint about unpaved roads.
Council also approved Resolution 22-R-57 to reschedule the January County Council meeting to Jan. 10; Dr. Joseph Flowers moved the resolution and Councilman Phillip Taylor seconded. Councilman Taylor noted he would be unavailable on Jan. 10, but the motion carried unanimously. The minutes reflect the council’s preference to accommodate the swearing-in schedule after the new year.
Finally, the council approved Resolution 22-R-59 by acclamation, appointing Janice Wright to the Colleton County Recreation Commission.
The actions were routine votes recorded in the meeting minutes; the county will proceed with contract execution and planned road work per contract terms and scheduling by the responsible road and transportation staff.
