Turin council accepts Planning & Zoning resignations, approves minutes

The Turin Town Council on Feb. 11 accepted multiple resignations from Planning & Zoning and approved prior meeting minutes.
Karen Bremer submitted her resignation from the Planning and Zoning Commission effective Feb. 11, 2026; she told the council she "cannot ethically work under a leader that has slandered her, her husband and the Mayor on Facebook," and offered to discuss the matter privately with council members. Mayor Walter Sprouse moved to amend the agenda to add Bremer's resignation; Council member Kim Barnett moved acceptance of the resignation and Council member Lydia Wallin seconded. The council voted to accept Bremer's resignation.
The council also approved the July 2025 and January 2026 meeting minutes. Council member Kim Barnett moved to approve the July minutes, seconded by Council member Lydia Wallin; Wallin moved to approve the January minutes, seconded by Barnett. Both motions carried.
On personnel matters, the council accepted Brennan Jones's resignation from his general consulting services role and took related action regarding his appointment as zoning administrator. Council member Lydia Wallin moved for acceptance and Council member Kim Barnett seconded; the motion carried. The council also accepted Jackie Campbell's resignation from the Zoning Commission following a motion by Wallin and a second by Barnett.
Mayor Sprouse said interested residents have one more month to file notice of interest forms for the vacant council seat before the council appoints a replacement.
