Knox County commissioners approve $1.91 million in claims, extend road weight limits and authorize INDOT signature

The Knox County Commissioners on March 17 approved routine and emergency business including claims, payroll and short-term road restrictions.

Commission President T.J. Brink moved and Vice President Tim Ellerman seconded approval of claims totaling $1,910,182.16; the motion passed 2-0. Brink also moved and Ellerman seconded approval of payroll for the March 13, 2026 pay period; that motion passed 2-0.

The commissioners extended temporary weight limit restrictions on county roads for an additional seven days after a motion by Brink and second from Ellerman; that motion passed 2-0. The extension is a short-term measure; no additional details or a revised timeline beyond the seven days were provided at the meeting.

On Resolution 2026-02, the board voted 2-0 to authorize Vice President Tim Ellerman to execute Indiana Department of Transportation documents on behalf of the Knox County Board of Commissioners. The resolution was introduced by Commissioner Brink and seconded by Ellerman.

Sanitarian Tara Hayden told the board that the Knox County Health Board has approved an update to the county food ordinance and submitted it for counsel review. Counsel Drew Porter said he will review the ordinance and refer it to the next commissioners meeting. The board, on a motion by Brink and second from Ellerman, voted 2-0 to table action on the ordinance pending counsel review.

The meeting adjourned at 6:17 p.m.; commissioners set the next meeting for 10:00 a.m. on April 7, 2026, at Vincennes City Hall.
