Lower Pottsgrove board approves contracts, reappointments and $17,215 payout to injured officer

Lower Pottsgrove’s Board of Commissioners on Jan. 6 approved a series of routine contracts, personnel payouts and reappointments in unanimous 5-0 votes.
Commissioner Michael McGroarty moved to award the township’s on-road and off-road diesel fuel contracts to Rhoads Energy d/b/a William R. Gift Oil; Commissioner Robert Mohollen seconded the motion and the board approved it 5-0. The board also voted 5-0 to advertise an Equipment Rental Bid for consideration at the Feb. 20 meeting after a motion from Commissioner Earl E. Swavely and a second from Commissioner McGroarty.
The board approved a payout of $17,215.23 to Officer Kenney to cover unused holiday, personal, Kelly and vacation time for 2024 after he was injured in the line of duty in February 2024 and has been on workers’ compensation since March. Chief Richard Bell said the action followed consultation with the township’s labor attorney to ensure compliance with law and contract terms; the motion passed 5-0.
By resolution the board reappointed Anita Meehan to the Planning Commission (Resolution 1364-25), Joseph Groff to the Sewer Authority (Resolution 1365-25), Joseph Vecchio as a full member of the Zoning Hearing Board (Resolution 1366-25) and Gregory Delp to the Building Code Appeals Board (Resolution 1367-25). The board also approved Resolution 453-W, which amends certain fees, deposits and escrows payable to the township; the board discussed that the Commercial Zoning Hearing Application fee was increased to align with surrounding municipalities.
Manager Edward C. Wagner said Warrant #952 for December will be available by the end of the week. The meeting adjourned at 7:21 p.m.; the next regular meeting is scheduled for Jan. 16, 2025, at 6:30 p.m.
