Lower Pottsgrove board approves hires, contracts, pension transfer and advertises two ordinances

The Lower Pottsgrove Township Board of Commissioners on Oct. 7 approved a series of routine personnel, contract and budget actions.
Personnel and contracts: The board unanimously accepted the retroactive resignation of Stacey Ward effective Oct. 4 and approved a conditional offer to Samantha Cronrath for an Administrative Support position effective Oct. 21. Commissioners also voted unanimously to hire three snow-removal contractors for the 2024–25 winter season: Above Grade Landscaping Inc., Haines & Kibblehouse Group Inc., and Sacks & Sons Inc.
Pension transfer: By Resolution 1356-24 the township will transfer $339,743 in 2024 State Aid, allocating $251,000 to the Police Pension and $88,000 to the Non-Uniform Pension. Township Finance Committee Chair Robert Mohollen thanked staff for their budget work and said the township received about $65,000 more than anticipated.
Ordinances to be advertised: Solicitor Jamie Ottaviano explained that the Borough of Pottstown was directed by the Environmental Protection Agency to change the maximum daily cyanide limit; because Lower Pottsgrove discharges to the borough system the township must amend Chapter 185 (Sewers and Sewage Disposal) and voted to advertise Ordinance 370 for the Oct. 24 meeting. The board also voted to advertise Ordinance 371, second-round SALDO landscaping amendments recommended by the Montgomery County Planning Commission, for Nov. 21.
Other business and public safety notices: Police Chief Richard Bell reported September activity totals (1,437 calls for service, 72 traffic citations, five DUI arrests) and announced the township-hosted National Drug Take Back event on Oct. 26 at the police department. Fire Marshal Lew Babel promoted the Sanatoga Fire Company open house on Oct. 12.
