Mt. Vernon awards $1.499 million contract to relocate former Register News building to Veterans Park

The Bevis bid itemized demolition and salvage at $170,000; site work for Veterans Park at $155,000; and building erection and build-out at $1,174,000. Bechtel recommended awarding the contract to Bevis Construction based on the low bid and the council approved the award.
Council Member Donte Moore moved to grant permission to accept the bid results to Bevis Construction; Council Member Ray Botch seconded. The motion carried with yeas recorded as Ray Botch, Joe Gliosci, Donte Moore and Mike Young; Mayor John Lewis was absent.
The council did not record additional contractual conditions or a construction schedule in the meeting minutes; staff indicated the recommendation and award only.
