Union Point City Council approved a series of routine and administrative items at its Feb. 11 meeting, including the appointment of a municipal prosecuting attorney and a one‑day non‑profit alcohol permit for an upcoming downtown event.
Council Member Jim Scott moved to appoint Oscar P. (Put) LaBarre, III as the city’s municipal prosecuting attorney; Council Member Mary Mundy seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Later in the meeting, City Clerk Becky Cronic presented a request from Firefly Trail, Inc. for a one‑day non‑profit alcohol permit to sell beer at the March 22 Ticket‑To‑Ride/Firefly Fest event downtown. Council Member Teneisha Pinkney moved approval; Council Member Sally Boswell seconded and the motion unanimously passed. Council noted this is the same kind of permit the city has approved in prior years.
Also at the meeting Council Member Sally Boswell moved to approve the Feb. 11 agenda and to approve the January 2025 minutes; both procedural motions passed unanimously. Attorney Joe Reitman reported he had no legal matters to present.
