River Ridge CDD accepts supervisor James Gilman’s resignation; board outlines appointment process

The River Ridge Community Development District Board of Supervisors accepted the resignation of Supervisor James Gilman (Seat 1, term through November 2026) at its Aug. 27 meeting.

Mrs. Adams presented Mr. Gilman’s resignation letter. On a motion by Supervisor Kurt Blumenthal, seconded by Supervisor Robert Twombly, the board unanimously accepted the resignation.

Because the unexpired term will be filled by appointment rather than election, the board agreed staff should notify residents. Mrs. Adams said Mr. Gilman represented The Meadows and that he had asked a friend to submit a resume; staff will e‑blast district residents and The Meadows’ property‑owners association manager about the vacancy, candidate qualifications and how to submit a resume or letter of interest prior to the next meeting. The item will return on the next agenda for formal appointment and administration of oath of office if a candidate is selected.

What to expect next The board’s direction keeps the process internal to the district’s appointment authority: staff will collect candidate materials and include them in the next meeting packet. Because this is an appointment to fill a seat with a term that runs to Nov. 2026, the successful candidate will serve the unexpired term until that date unless otherwise specified by future board action or election.
