Union Point adopts water and sewer budgets and renews four-year IGA with Greene County; patrol hours reduced

On Jan. 14, 2025, the Union Point City Council voted unanimously to adopt the Water and Sewer budgets for fiscal year 2025 and to renew an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) with the Greene County Sheriff's Office and the Greene County Commissioners for law enforcement services.
Council Member Teneisha Pinkney moved to adopt the Water and Sewer budgets that had been presented in December; Council Member Sally Boswell seconded. Clerk Becky Cronic noted that municipal enterprise funds do not require balanced budgets and that a budget had not been approved by Oct. 1, 2024. The motion passed unanimously.
The council then approved a four-year renewal of the IGA with Greene County, effective Feb. 1, 2025. Council Member Sally Boswell moved to renew the agreement and Council Member Teneisha Pinkney seconded. Clerk Cronic said the noteworthy change in the renewed IGA reduces contracted law-enforcement coverage to align with the general budget — a decrease from 24 hours per week to 18 hours per week. The motion passed unanimously.
Clerk Cronic indicated a copy of the IGA is included with the meeting records and that the agreement will begin Feb. 1, 2025.
