Union Point council approves setback variance for carport at 615 Woodland Court

Hal Chitwood, the city’s building and zoning official, summarized the request and recommended approval, saying an existing concrete slab at the site is in good condition and usable for the proposed carport. Homeowner Christine Dale spoke in favor and said she and her family were new to the community and would appreciate the approval. Neighbor Bill Callaway also spoke in support. No one spoke in opposition during the public hearing, which Mayor Lanier Rhodes opened and then closed after comments.
Council Member William Harris Jr. moved to grant the variance; Council Member Teneisha Pinkney seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
