Waynesboro DDA installs directional signs, updates restroom enclosure and approves corrected minutes

The Downtown Development Authority Board met Jan. 28 and approved minutes from its Dec. 18, 2024, meeting after recording a correction to show that board member Jesse Palmer III was present.
Elizabeth Highsmith moved to approve the minutes, Roxanne Reid seconded the motion, and the board approved it. The minutes committee recorded a correction noting Jesse Palmer III’s presence at the prior meeting.
Staff member Don Lively reported several updates on downtown projects. Directional signs have been installed on the four main corners of downtown; staff said most initial public feedback has been positive. At the public restroom project site, the stationary-fence portion of the enclosure has been installed and staff reported that the gate will be added once the concrete has cured.
Lively also said the MLK Day parade has been rescheduled from Jan. 18 to Jan. 22. The board’s routine partner report noted that D.O.O.R. Boss Hog has opened applications and had received 29 applications so far, with talent scheduled to be announced Nov. 14.
The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn by Jesse Palmer III, seconded by Elizabeth Highsmith; Chair Lindsai Gentry adjourned the meeting at 2:55 p.m.
