Washington mayor issues decorum warning as council approves December minutes

The council approved minutes from three December meetings. The Dec. 3 and Dec. 9 minutes were approved on motions by Councilman Gunter and seconded by Councilman Anderson, each recorded as 5 in favor and 1 opposed. The Dec. 27 minutes were approved on a motion by Councilman Cullars, seconded by Councilman Fisher, recorded as 5 in favor, 0 opposed and 1 abstention.
The council reiterated public-comment and hearing procedures and clarified that, under Georgia law, council attendance is not required at public hearings. The meeting then moved on to other agenda items.
The council concluded the open-session business before an executive session was called later in the evening.
