Lake City Council keeps millage at 1.6 mills, approves bonuses, subdivision and property condemnation

LAKE CITY, Ark. — The Lake City Council on Oct. 24 adopted Resolution No. 2022-10-24 keeping the city millage at 1.6 mills for 2023 and approved a series of personnel and land-use actions during a regular meeting at city hall.
Mayor Cameron Tate opened the 5:30 p.m. meeting and led roll call before the council voted unanimously to adopt the millage resolution. Councilmember Danny Dunigan moved to adopt the resolution and Councilmember Tommy Eakins seconded; the council recorded the motion as passing 6-0.
The council approved a package of administrative actions and motions with little debate. Motions passed to install a drainage ditch on city easement at 67 and 69 Jackson, accept Phase 1 of the Lakewood Landing Subdivision, and to accept a grandfather agreement between Randy Blancett and the city regarding livestock.
On personnel matters, Mayor Tate recommended end-of-year bonuses of $525 for full-time city employees and $250 for part-time employees. Councilmember Danny Dunigan moved to approve those amounts and Councilmember Brenda Hutcheson seconded; the motion passed with an abstention by Councilmember Kate Wells. The council also approved specified end-of-year bonus payments for Lake City Fire Department volunteers on a recommendation from Fire Chief Chris Snyder; that vote also recorded an abstention by Councilmember Wells.
The council voted to proceed with condemnation of the property at 605 Maumelle after a motion from Councilmember Dunigan, seconded by Councilmember Harmony Cash; that motion passed unanimously. The council also voted to accept the application of Kenneth Womack to the Lake City Fire Department.
After the business concluded, the council moved to adjourn. The next regular meeting was scheduled for Nov. 21, 2022.
