During the public comment period for the FY27 budget, Patrick Sheridan spoke in favor of increased funding for the Athens-Clarke County Regional Library’s budget and expressed opposition to sales taxes. The commission recorded that there was no public input for the Taxpayer Bill of Rights hearing, which is one of three hearings the county must hold under state guidance.
No formal vote or decision on the budget occurred at the meeting. The only formal action taken was a motion to adjourn the special called session: Commissioner Taylor moved to adjourn, Commissioner Davenport seconded, and the motion passed by unanimous vote. The meeting adjourned at 6:15 p.m.
The commission will continue budget-related proceedings as scheduled in subsequent hearings.
