Staff report: Vadnais Heights fire station project to go to bid June 2; fire chief reports fewer urgency-room transports

The Vadnais Heights Health and Public Safety Commission on May 27 received a staff report that the city’s fire station project will be advertised for bids at the June 2, 2026, City Council meeting.
During the staff report Fire Chief Kurt Frison said that transports to urgency rooms declined after he spoke with the facilities about their transport and intake procedures. The commission thanked staff for the station update; no formal action or vote on the project was taken by the commission at this meeting.
The meeting record also notes there was no report from Allina Health at this session. Commissioners asked staff to continue coordination with the City Council as the bidding process proceeds; the Council will receive the station project bid materials on June 2.
The commission adjourned at 8:05 p.m. following approval of the meeting minutes and agenda earlier in the session.
