At the Dec. 16 meeting of the North Miami Community Schools Board of School Trustees, students Jeremiah Snavely and Horace Hovermale presented on their participation in the Miami County 4‑H Entomology Career Development Event, describing contest activities and what they learned preparing for the competition.
Elementary and middle/high school administrators followed with semester environment reports. Danielle Galbraith summarized elementary attendance and discipline data and previewed Winter Wonderland activities; Karise Kabage updated the board on middle and high school events, recent FFA competitions, the start of winter sports and an upcoming FFA fish fry scheduled for Jan. 9. Kabage also reported that some state-level budget cuts are having an impact on district operations.
During the public comment period, Kari Wilson shared several statistics about student growth. Board members thanked the student presenters and school staff for their work; Mr. Finnegan offered holiday wishes and Mrs. Sturch thanked middle/high staff for consistent enforcement of a cell-phone policy.
The meeting record does not list verbatim statistics supplied by Wilson; the minutes indicate Wilson "shared a few stats about student growth."
