North Miami board accepts transportation director retirement, approves leaves and coaching hires

The North Miami Community Schools board approved a series of personnel actions during its Nov. 18 meeting, accepting a retirement, a leave request and multiple athletic hire recommendations.
The board approved the retirement of Rich Robins, transportation director, effective Dec. 31, 2025. The motion to accept the retirement was made by Mr. Finnegan, seconded by Mrs. Eckrote and carried 6-0.
Separately, the board approved a maternity leave for elementary teacher Megan Starkey from mid-February through mid-April 2026. The leave motion was made by Mr. Floyd, seconded by Mr. Finnegan, and carried 6-0.
The board also approved recommended athletic and academic hires: Emma Wright as 7th-grade volleyball coach; Brianne Chumbley as 7th-grade girls basketball coach; Angela Morris as 8th-grade girls basketball coach; and volunteers Rex Moore Sr. (wrestling) and Victoria Masters (girls basketball). The hire motion was made by Mrs. Eckrote, seconded by Mr. Working, and carried 6-0.
No certified or non-certified staff hires were recorded in the minutes under those agenda subheadings. The minutes show unanimous approval for the personnel items recorded.
