County planner briefs Woodburn council on map updates; council schedules special March 26 meeting

Robert Wai of Allen County Planning Services presented the Allen County Plan Commission’s Comprehensive Map updates as they pertain to the City of Woodburn during the public portion of the March 16 meeting.
Mayor Kelsey reported on Board of Works plans for water utility projects and noted an upcoming meeting with the Allen County Department of Planning Services; she asked that two council members attend if available. The mayor also mentioned discussions about a Woodburn Trail consultant and a new Allen County Fire District interlocal agreement.
Superintendent Walls told the council the city has met with Lakeland Internet at the lab and that the council is awaiting a finalized service contract before allowing the provider access to city facilities.
Council Member Gerig moved to set a special council meeting for March 26, 2026 at 5:00 PM; Council Member Graber seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. Mayor Kelsey later moved to adjourn; Council Member Gerig seconded and the meeting adjourned at 7:57 PM.
The presentation by Allen County Planning Services did not include ordinance text or votes; members present received the map-update briefing and were informed of coordination with county staff. The council reminded residents that livestreams and approved minutes are available on the city website.
