Sullivan Budget Committee requests reserve-account balances, schedules review with Town Manager

The Sullivan Budget Committee met April 15, 2026, and reviewed the Town Manager's proposed line-item and departmental budget recommendations for fiscal year 2027. Committee members Bethany Leavitt (Budget Committee member), John Keenan (Budget Committee member) and Jerry Erbes (Budget Committee member) were recorded in attendance; the meeting began at 5:45 p.m. and adjourned at 7:50 p.m.

In procedural business, the committee approved a nomination from the floor for the chair/constable moderator; Jerry Erbes was nominated and the committee approved the nomination 3-0. The committee also moved to approve the April 8, 2026 budget meeting minutes; that motion was seconded by Bethany Leavitt and recorded as approved, 2-0.

During a workshop-style review of the Town Manager's April 15 budget plan, members identified items requiring follow-up. The committee voted to compile a list of questions to send to the Sullivan Town Manager for written responses; that motion was seconded by John Keenan and passed 2-0. Members reviewed calendar deadlines and noted April 27 as the committee's response deadline to the Selectmen, contingent on corrected information from the Town Manager.

The committee approved a motion requesting current reserve-account listings and balances from the Selectmen and the Town Manager. Members also scheduled two follow-up meetings to complete the review: a Saturday 10:00 a.m. session focused on reserve accounts related to the Sullivan Recreation Center and a Wednesday 5:30 p.m. session at the Sullivan Town Office. The motions to schedule these meetings and to require attendance by the Sullivan Town Manager were seconded and passed 2-0.

The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn, seconded by John Keenan, which passed 2-0. The minutes were marked as "Draft until approved."
