The North Miami Community Schools Board of Trustees on Oct. 14 adopted the district's 2026 budget and approved several accompanying financial resolutions, including a capital plan, a bus-replacement plan and authorization of tax anticipation warrants.
Board members voted unanimously (motion carried 5-0 on each item) to adopt the 2026 budget and the 2026 capital plans and bus replacement plan. The board also approved a resolution permitting budget order changes, a separate budget-adjustment resolution to allow modifications to the 2025 or 2026 budgets if needed, a resolution to transfer funds from the Education Fund to the Operations Fund for calendar year 2026, and a resolution allowing appropriation transfers within fund lines for approved expenditures. The board approved a resolution authorizing tax anticipation warrants for 2026. Motions and seconders were recorded in the minutes for each item.
Superintendent-level reports earlier in the meeting noted an ongoing focus on fiscal housekeeping: Kenneth Hanson told the board the district's Fall ADM (average daily membership) was certified at 756 and that the district sold its 2025 bond to First Farmers Bank & Trust at an interest rate of 3.55%, providing context to the board's fiscal actions.
