Burlington council reviews Spruce Street curb-ramp bids, TIB overlay and several procurement agreements

City staff told the Burlington City Council on April 23 that the city has received multiple bids for ADA curb-ramp and sidewalk upgrades on Spruce Street and will return with a recommendation for contract award.
Interim Public Works Director Brian Dempsey said the curb-ramp work is planned before a planned overlay on Spruce Street and a related portion of Goldenrod Road. The Transportation Improvement Board (TIB)-funded overlay is part of the city’s pavement maintenance program; staff reported bids had been received and will present a contract-award recommendation at a future meeting.
Public Works and Parks Operations Director Travis Schwetz recommended purchasing a used 2020 Ford F-350 as a budget-conscious replacement for an older pickup. The council asked clarifying questions about new-vs.-used options and operational needs; no purchase was finalized at the meeting.
Fire Chief Rob Toth introduced a purchasing agreement with Bound Tree Medical for EMS consumables to maintain ambulance supplies, and presented a cooperative purchasing agreement to transition the city’s group purchasing participation to King County to secure favorable pricing and streamline procurement.
Council did not take final contract-award action for the Spruce Street or overlay projects during the meeting; staff will return with recommendations.
