Burlington council approves $634,391 in accounts payable, $698,097 in payroll and several consent items

The Burlington City Council on April 23 voted to approve Accounts Payable invoices totaling $634,391.80 and payroll expenses totaling $698,097.37, and approved the meeting minutes and a three-item consent agenda.
Mayor Bill Aslett called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m. and the council moved, without recorded opposition among those present, to excuse Councilor Jamie Weiss from the April 23 meeting. Councilors Scott Green and Kelsey Freeman moved to approve the April 9 regular meeting minutes, and the motion carried.
Councilor Scott Green, reporting out of the Audit & Finance meeting, presented the payroll and accounts payable totals; Councilors Green and Freeman moved to approve payment and payroll as presented, and the motion passed with all members present in favor. The council also approved three consent agenda items, including temporary street and parking-lot closures for neighborhood events and the appointment of Jenny Aaron to the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board.
During public comment, resident Susan Alatrico urged improvements at the First Step Center and proposed a community-led mural to enhance the site and support resident well-being. The council did not take immediate action on the mural proposal during the meeting.
The meeting adjourned at 9:17 p.m.
