POSEYVILLE — The Town Council on Dec. 9 received a draft Petition for Annexation for the Farmington Ridge subdivision and set a public hearing for Jan. 13, 2026, the council announced.
William Bender — identified at the meeting as Town Attorney and also described in the agenda as a member of Hometown Ventures Group, LLC (HVG) — presented the draft petition and asked the council to consider a timeline for the required public hearing. According to meeting notes, HVG will sign and submit the petition and the town will publish notice in the Posey County News and on the Town of Poseyville website.
Mr. Farrar reported that water main and hydrant installation for the subdivision is complete and that those elements have been pressure tested and treated; the sewer main is complete and has passed but some test results remained pending in the meeting record. CHA inspectors are conducting weekly inspections and have expressed concern about pouring concrete during the current low-temperature conditions. An HVG representative said JBI will provide a letter guaranteeing concrete curbs and work completed in lower temperatures.
Council members were told that HVG and the town will later enter a formal agreement addressing ownership transfer of assets for Farmington Ridge. No formal annexation vote occurred at the Dec. 9 meeting; the public hearing on Jan. 13 will be the next formal step.
