The Village of New Hyde Park Board of Trustees on Aug. 15 unanimously approved a bundle of routine actions including authorization of Abstract No. 24‑06, the hiring of a new part‑time Department of Public Works laborer, and two contracts with Signarama for custom LED signs on the village message board.
Deputy Mayor Madhvi Nijjar moved to approve the July 18 meeting minutes and Abstract No. 24‑06; Trustee Arthur Savarese seconded both motions and the board voted unanimously to approve. Trustee Savarese then moved to hire Victor Podesta as a part‑time DPW laborer; Trustee Rainer Burger seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
The board also approved two separate agreements with Signarama to install a custom Village of New Hyde Park LED sign above the existing message board (motion by Trustee Burger, seconded by Trustee Savarese) and another LED sign below the existing message board (motion by Trustee Savarese, seconded by Deputy Mayor Nijjar). Both motions were adopted unanimously.
No board member recorded a dissenting vote during these items. The approvals were routine budget- and personnel-level actions recorded in the meeting minutes; no public controversy or extended debate on those items was recorded.
The meeting later adjourned into executive session on a unanimous vote (motion by Deputy Mayor Nijjar; second by Trustee Burger). The executive session began after the regular meeting and concluded at 9:00 p.m.
