Tusayan council approves consulting contract, new bank cards and equipment purchases

Town Manager Clifton described the contract as "a flat fee of $7,000 per month" and said the firm will provide federal advocacy, grant guidance and relationship-building services. The council also adopted Resolution No. 2026-01 to transfer the town’s credit card accounts from Chase to Western Alliance Bank and to assign cards to the Town Manager and Town Clerk, with the mayor as administrative authority. Town Manager Clifton said the change aligns the town’s transactional banking relationships. The resolution passed on a unanimous vote.
On equipment, Council authorized the purchase of a replacement Bobcat at a quoted price of $68,057.20. Clifton said the existing machine was past its useful life; staff used a statewide Sourcewell cooperative procurement to meet policy requirements and, according to Clifton and Town Attorney Arson, saved the town more than $10,000. The purchase was approved unanimously.
The council approved contracts for summer events: a $10,000 performance agreement for Phoenix-area band Sapphire Sky and a tent rental from Event Rents priced at $36,365.11 for the Fourth of July celebration. Vice Mayor Greg Brush offered the Fire Station as a green room for the band. Both motions passed unanimously.
All votes reported in the minutes show unanimous approval by Mayor Clarinda Vail, Vice Mayor Greg Brush and Council Members Josh Collet, Andrew Aldaz and Elena Villanueva when each member was present.
