Staff explained rental quotes and logistics: barricade rental estimates were discussed, government contract pricing reduced a prior vendor estimate by about half, and deployment would require staging and multi-person crews to set and remove panels. Staff cautioned the operation would require detailed logistical planning and could affect downtown parking and business operations during deployment; councilmembers asked for plans to minimize impacts.
Council voted to approve the amendment and then the motion; the final vote on the amended motion was recorded as 5–1. Administration will plan deployment logistics with the Chamber and police, prioritize key intersections and incident-prone areas, and return to council with a post-trial assessment.
