Selectmen accept $123,000 auction bid to resolve long-unpaid tax on town property

The Board of Selectmen voted to accept a $123,000 auction bid for a tax-deeded parcel (auction item 2174) and authorized the town administrator to execute associated closing documents.
Town Administrator Diane told the board the property had been deeded by the tax collector in June and offered at auction; the winning bidder, the Kenneth and Joanna Hopman Revocable Trust, provided a $10,000 deposit and is expected to close within 30 days. Diane said accounting shows the town recovered the principal, trust and penalties but did not recover the full equalized value; she explained that a 10% penalty amounting to an increased calculation under the state RSA can be part of the town’s recoverable amount.
Selectman Marco moved to accept the auction bid and authorize execution of the deed; the motion was seconded and carried unanimously (5–0).
