Poseyville council reviews police, fire updates; approves fire flow testing and training container

The Poseyville Town Council heard updates from the police and fire departments on Aug. 14 and approved two Fire Department requests.
Marshal Carter provided the monthly police run report and reminded residents to observe school stop arms and staggered dismissal traffic at North Elementary. Marshall/Marshal Carter and Council President Justin Rutledge discussed publishing the run report in the Posey County News; the Clerk-Treasurer will include the run report when sending draft minutes to the paper.
On fire matters, President Rutledge relayed EMS guidance about billable medical supplies and Chief Kolley said the department’s current budget meets supply needs; Rutledge asked the department to reach out to the Posey County Health Department for potential donations under current grants. Clerk-Treasurer Jodie Rankin told the council that integrating the run system with the billing system (FireRecovery) would cost an additional $1,500 per year, and the town will work with the department to determine feasibility.
Chief Kolley requested permission to flow-test equipment (estimated $1,500–$2,000) and to place a donated 20-foot container box at the water tower lot for training; both requests were approved by unanimous roll call. The council noted that the container would be moved at no cost and that the addition would be outside the fenced area with no objections from Jeremy Farrar.
The police and fire updates were informational and the council requested no additional immediate actions beyond the approved equipment testing and placement of the container.
