Poseyville switches insurance vendors, approves cyber services to meet coverage requirements

Clerk‑Treasurer Jodie Rankin told the council Oct. 15 that the town's property and casualty carrier, Selective Insurance, submitted a 20% renewal increase. After soliciting quotes through the town agent Adam Johnson, the council voted to return to Bliss McKnight for the 2026 renewal; Rankin said the change is expected to save approximately $7,000 compared with the higher renewal.
Rankin also explained the structure of the town's umbrella and the need for a separate cyber insurance policy. To meet cyber coverage requirements the council approved expanded services with Lieberman Technologies, including email retention and other items Rankin said were previously discussed with President Rutledge. Mike Baehl moved to approve the Bliss McKnight and cybersecurity contracts; Randy Rankin seconded the motion and the vote was recorded as unanimous.
The council recorded that Principal Life and National Union Fire Insurance renewals showed no increase for 2026 and required no action.
Rankin said the town's insurance agent worked to obtain competitive quotes and that the council's action moves the town to a vendor the town used previously.
