The Poseyville Town Council unanimously approved several routine financial measures and a budgetary reclassification at its Aug. 14 meeting. On motions by council members Mike Baehl and Randy Rankin, the council approved the July 8 meeting minutes, the payroll allowance docket and the claims docket — the latter was larger than usual because the town paid off a sewer bond.
Clerk-Treasurer Jodie Rankin told the council the bank reconciliations for July 2025 had been provided in full and recommended approval; the council approved them by roll call. Rankin also presented Resolution No. 2025-08-14-01 to reclassify the Cemetery and Park funds as departments under the town’s General Fund for budget year 2026. The resolution keeps separate departmental budgets for the Cemetery and Park but ends their treatment as separate taxing units because neither has a separate governing board; Randy Rankin moved to pass the resolution, and the motion carried unanimously.
Council members also voted to enter a short-term agreement with Midwestern Engineers, Inc. to handle LTAP certification required for future local roads and streets grant submissions. The agreement was approved by a unanimous roll call vote. The council selected Yikes Pest Control to provide pest-control services for town-owned facilities for one year, again approving the contract unanimously after reviewing quotes presented by the Clerk-Treasurer.
