Pima council directs donations into FY26 budget, adopts tentative budget

Town Manager Vernon Batty presented four donation requests the council approved for inclusion in the FY26 budget: Discovery Plus, $500; Dan Hinton School, $1,000; Pima Turkey Trot, $500; and the Eastern Arizona Historical Museum, $3,000. The council directed Manager Batty to add the approved donations to the budget documents.
Batty also reported he had inserted three council-requested items into the draft FY26 budget: a pay raise for the fire department, a cost-of-living increase for all town employees, and an increase to the inmate labor fee. Council members additionally directed Batty to include contingency funds in the budget for the final reading and to provide a more detailed breakdown of grant line items.
Councilmember Cade Bryce moved to adopt the tentative FY26 budget; Vice Mayor Teresa Bailey seconded. The motion "carried unanimously." The transcript records no roll-call vote tally by name; five council members were present at roll call earlier in the meeting (Mayor Brian Paull, Vice Mayor Teresa Bailey, Councilmembers Lucas Hoopes, Georgia Luster and Cade Bryce), so the unanimous result implies full council support of those present.
No final appropriations were adopted at the meeting; the council approved the tentative budget for further processing and required staff to clarify grant details and contingency allocations before final adoption.
