Broken Bow council approves consent agenda, renews insurance with LARM and sets budget workshop

The Broken Bow City Council, meeting July 22, 2025 at the Broken Bow Municipal Auditorium, approved its consent agenda and a slate of municipal business including an insurance renewal and a budget workshop date.
Early in the meeting the council voted unanimously to approve the consent agenda, which included the Minutes of July 8, 2025, Bills to Date and the June 2025 Treasurer’s Report. The bills list provided in the meeting record totals $441,182.63 for non-payroll items; bi-weekly payroll for July 16, 2025 was listed as $90,631.60, giving a grand total of $531,814.23 on the consent items.
In new business the council approved Resolution 2025-13, renewing the city’s insurance coverage with the League Association of Risk Management (LARM). The resolution selects the option requiring written notice of termination at least 180 days prior to any desired termination date and notes a 5% discount for the chosen option. City Administrator David Schmidt told the council the city signed a one-year agreement with LARM last year, said he was satisfied with their service despite a recent power plant explosion, and recommended accepting a 2- or 3-year coverage option and corresponding discount.
The council also set a Budget Workshop for Thursday, Aug. 14, 2025, at 12:00 p.m.; that motion passed unanimously.
There were no public comments recorded. The council adjourned at 6:16 p.m.
Actions taken at the meeting were routine procedural approvals and scheduling; no ordinances or budget adoptions were finalized at this session.
