Golf Course advisory board endorses new meeting time and schedules July 25 budget review

Scott Michaelson, director of parks and recreation, told the board the later time was intended to increase attendance: "So the 4th Thursday at 4PM is the time that we meet," he said.
The change follows staff conversations with the city clerk’s office and scheduling constraints for the commission chambers. Michaelson said the recording vendor and multiple existing bookings limit available slots and recommended a consistent monthly date: "This is the meeting date. And really the 4th Thursday at 4PM is the best, I think the best time." The board voiced no objection and signaled consensus to adopt the slot.
Members and city staff also mapped the municipal budget calendar to identify where the advisory board can influence funding decisions. Jeremiah, the interim city manager, outlined the schedule: a July 16 presentation, a July 30 millage-rate adoption and an August 6 budget workshop. "August 6 is the first budget workshop," Jeremiah said, and he encouraged advisory-board members to attend the workshop and the July 30 meeting so they could advise the commission on priorities affecting the golf course.
Staff committed to post materials in advance and to present a "10,000-foot" view and the large capital requests they will ask the commission to consider. Michaelson said staff would provide the board with the major expense items—such as equipment shortfalls and the capital items they plan to request—so members can decide whether to support the funding during the upcoming commission deliberations.
Next steps: staff will post the July 25 meeting and circulate the budget materials in the days ahead so board members can review the capital asks before the July 16 presentation and the July 30 millage decision.
