Bolton organizers plan first local Wreaths Across America event on Dec. 13

Janet K. Assard, who distributed event materials at the meeting, said she and Jennifer Baum are coordinating the ceremony, outreach and sponsorship efforts. They plan a public presentation at Bentley Memorial Library on Oct. 2, 2025 to provide more information and to solicit sponsorships and volunteers. The packet included instructions for donating: a $17 sponsorship places a wreath on a veteran’s headstone; donors may give online via www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/CT0184 or make a check payable to Wreaths Across America/CT0184 with local pickup arrangements available.
Assard said the event’s purpose is to remember, honor and teach about community veterans and encouraged residents to attend and volunteer; volunteers will place wreaths at veterans’ headstones and no prior signup is required. Contact information listed in the meeting packet included email addresses and phone numbers for both Assard and Baum for sponsorship and volunteer inquiries.
The organizers plan to attend the town Veterans Day luncheon to promote sponsorships and to broaden community participation. The commission received the event materials as part of its old-business discussion; no formal vote or town funding decision was recorded in the minutes.
