Bolton schedules first Wreaths Across America event for Dec. 13, 2025

Janet K. Assard, the Bolton Fire Commission clerk and event organizer, told the commission on July 28 that Bolton will hold its first annual Wreaths Across America ceremony on Dec. 13, 2025, at Bolton Center Cemetery at 12:00 p.m.
Assard said organizers have been collecting donations at recent community concerts, will appear on Channel 3’s Great Day Show on Aug. 5, 2025, and are soliciting $17 sponsorships to place wreaths on veterans’ headstones. “The purpose of the event is to Remember, Honor and Teach about our community’s heroes,” Assard said.
The commission record notes that the Bolton Volunteer Fire Department has agreed to support the event; according to an update relayed by Chief Dixon, the department will purchase 10 wreaths. Volunteers do not need to sign up in advance, organizers said; the flyer appended to the minutes includes a QR code, a donation link (www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/CT0184), and local contact information for Assard and Jennifer Baum.
Organizers asked local businesses and residents to consider sponsoring wreaths; each $17 sponsorship will fund a wreath to be placed on a veteran’s grave. The minutes include instructions for making donations by check and a caution not to mail checks directly to Wreaths Across America, per the organizers’ guidance.
The commission recessed community items without further action; the next commission meeting is scheduled for Sept. 22, 2025.
